GWR Community Rail Partnerships

These links go to local community rail partnerships that seek to develop services on railway lines in the GWR network area.  The Federation of Community Rail Partnerships is the umbrella group for over 50 local partnerships and su[pport groups.   Download their pdf document here if you want to adopt your local GWR station!

Promotional and Community Groups

Cotswold Line Promotion Group: the groups that supports very successfully developments on the line between Oxford, Evesham, Worcester to Hereford. Major improvements have occurred recently with the re-doubling of the track between Evesham and Charlbury. Passive provision has been provided for the eventual junction at Honeybourne with the Gloucester Warwickshire Steam Railway, which is now extending to Broadway, 3 miles from Honeybourne. The Heart of Wessex Rail Partnership:  this is the group that promotes the line between Bristol and Weymouth

The Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership:  this alliance promotes useage of 6 GWR lines in the area: the Maritime Line from Truro to Falmouth, the Looe Valley Line from Liskeard to Looe, the Tamar Valley Line from Plymouth to Gunnislake and the St Ives Bay line which leaves the mainline at St Erth.  .  The website is excellent for its information, photos and is well laid out for potential car-free visitors.  The links for the individual lines are below:

The Atlantic Coast Line:has its own website to promote development of the line between Par and Newquay.  The group’s blueprint document is a very interesting read for its plans to upgrade the route and encourage people to it.
